PS Automation GmbH has already optimized their production with the help of lean management. By implementing new digital strategies, the company wants to increase their efficiency even more. Therefore, possible approaches of the management where discussed with the Kompetenzzentrum Kaiserslautern in a forum called Ideenwerkstatt „Mensch und Arbeit 4.0“. This first meeting served as an orientation about the possibilities of digitalization and laid the foundation for the project „digitalization of production“. In this process, it was important to PS Automation to make sure that the staff is fully involved. In order to define the requirements of production, the Kompetenzzentrum Kaiserslautern observed the production process for two days on location and gained an insight into the day-to-day business. By conducting interviews with the staff, specific requirements of the project were raised. The objective of the project is to introduce a knowledge management system which can be accessed at the production workstations in order to gain information about construction data and further information linked to a specific order. Therefore, different production workstations will be equipped with PCs. It is also planned to link the new system to already existing ERP and database programs. This procedure has the advantage that current data from the production can be used for further production and resource planning by all departments. The official kick-off of the project support will be in January 2018.

“We are very grateful for the support of the Kompetenzzentrum Kaiserslautern and open to implement further projects together in the future. The team is welcome at our company at all times.”
– Christian Schmidhuber, Geschäftsführer PS Automation GmbH
